Andrea Willems is an American painter whose work explores themes around mystery, loss, and place through parallels seen between nature and the human experience.

These parallels are expressed through landscape, expressive abstractions, and still life steeped in metaphor; often taking on otherworldly or dreamlike qualities. C

ontrasting veils of paint, matte black grounds, and colorful layers, with thick impasto smears mirroring moments within an internal landscape. Forever in flux: highs and lows, peaks and valleys, urban and rural, whether developed or rebuilt, her work reminds us how closely our humanity is tied to our landscape.
